Jason Moore Biography:
From the time Jason was a young boy, he always had a deep love and respect for the ocean. Jason grew up in Hartsville, South Carolina and began coming to the Myrtle Beach area since before the age of one. Having various relatives with homes in the area, Garden City specifically became my second home. Any chance given, Jason would find himself making the two-hour car ride to head to the beach for the week or weekend. Around the age of ten or eleven, he began body boarding which later evolved into surfing. On top of surfing, fishing and boating became a favorite past time as well with his family.
After graduating high school, Jason Moore was accepted to Coastal Carolina University. Art was always a favorite subject throughout his earlier days in grade school and high school, but at the time it was just another class subject to take in school. In college he had no clue what to major in, so the first year Jason was undeclared. The second year, Jason decided he wanted to major in Business because "Hey, who doesn't want to make money right!" Little did he know, Business Statistics and Accounting are some pretty tough courses. Jason's mind just wasn't into learning about how to manage a business or balance numbers at the time.
Moore's mother was always disappointed Jason didn't go into the art field when he first started at Coastal. She thought Jason was not pursuing his natural talent, so at the beginning of his third year, Jason changed his major for a third time to art studio. "It was nice because all of my core classes were already completed, so most of my classes were all art related the remaining years. Two and a half years later I found myself walking down the stage with a Bachelors degree in Art Studio in the fall of 2003!"
These days Jason is married to his wife DeAnna with a fulltime job and a little girl, Rowan. Moore's artwork is still important, but family life comes first. When he has time Jason enjoys surfing, painting, spending time on the water, and seeing live music.
Morre's current medium is acrylic on canvas for paintings. Having studied watercolor, oil and many other mediums in school, acrylic seems to be the most satisfactory for his needs when space and time are an issue. Jason's paintings mainly consist of lifestyle experiences of things he did growing up including surfing, fishing and boating. "Living around the inlet, the subject matters are endless. I find it handy to always have a camera around to shoot the latest afternoon sunset on the boat or next fishing trip. With all of the resources around, the only hard part in starting a new painting is narrowing down the choices."
All of Jason's work has a similar technique. Moore tries to demonstrate the movement and flow of water using small "squiggly" lines layered on top of one another. Instead of blending colors for depth, Jason likes to layer color upon color with various shapes and lines. People have commented on the consistency of this style in his paintings. "I have a passion for artwork because of the freedom to create and express personal ideas, which presents a rewarding feeling when finished."
